The charm of FALCON HEAVY’s   success have turned many people from around the globe towards space exploration…! The milestones of  recent success from  SPACEX  has pushed boundaries of NASA  to test its new EM-1 (R-25 engine ) .By the time you complete a major task of your life,  inSight will make an ofiical entry into the  NASA  take-away list.

Well now it’s time to make a landing on our topic :inSight.

Moving into point what is inSight actually.??

inSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) is a mars lander which will be used to make a through checkup of mars which bears an age of  4.5 billion years .This lander once successful will become the first outer space robotic explorer to study the interior of mars(crust,mantle,core).

INSIGHT does all the activity by checking on to the three main aspects of mars.

  • sesmology(pulse)
  • temperature (heat flow)
  • reflexes (precision tracking)

Well, insight is equipped with cutting edge instruments that dig deep the planet so as to study the samples which would provide gigantic information of their formation and these sample testing is done by measuring the three mentioned vital signs of mars.

Also with this main project on hand NASA is also in plan of sending two mini-spacecrafts called “MARCO“(Mars Cube One).These two mini spacecrafts will be logged into the rocket that would take insight beyond earth.Marco travel beyond the insight(have their own path) and they act as stations that relay back the data of insight landing and ongoing process of it back to earth .If successful marco  will stand as new relay station to earth and can bring a revolution in space exploration..#

When it comes to the goals of these project ,all can be categorized into two:

  • understanding the evolution and formation of mars.
  • to study the tectonic activity of mars.

Formation & Evolution:  Understand the formation and evolution of terrestrial planets through investigation of the interior structure and processes of Mars.

Tectonic Activity :           Determine the present level of tectonic activity and meteorite impact rate on Mars.

Coming to vehicle :Atlas V-401

Atlas V-401 stands 188 feet (57.3 meters) tall. Fully stacked, with the spacecraft, the Atlas V-401 weighs about 730,000 pounds (333,000 kilograms), that would some upto 14 big rigs, fully loaded with cargo!

The three numbers in the 401 designation signify:
4:    a payload fairing — or nose cone — that is about 13 feet (4 meters) in diameter
0:    solid-rocket boosters supplementing the main booster
1:    the upper stage, which has one engine

The whole things of insight are under the management of JPL(Jet Propulsion Laboratory).  Lockheed Martin Space Systems, Denver, built the spacecraft. InSight program is managed by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The launch vehicle and launch services are provided by United Launch Alliance.

INSIGHT had already started its journey ,it has reached the launch-site on  February 28, 2018 ,to take up some final test so as to make a successful flight.

More than 2.4 billion people names have been embedded into chip which will travel along a way with insigth and get into soil of mars when insight makes a prefect landing…!#
